Dori had her first ultrasound last month, and this is what it told us. Couldn’t be happier. :)

We are a husband and a wife who take pictures. When we are not shooting, one of us is a journalist, the other a piano teacher. This is the second incarnation of our photo blog, and we hope you enjoy the visual tour of our work. If you are interested in booking, please visit our formal web site.
Brooktown Photography loves good food, traveling, making new friends and going for long walks on the beach.
Please follow us on twitter and @reply us so we know who you are!
Thanks for visiting!

Talk about melting hearts and taking names. This little guy was a rock star when we met with Jay and Cassidy to take his picture last month. He slept through just about the whole session, and when he wasn’t sleeping he was just looking around and being cute. We don’t need to say *how* cute, because… well, you’ll see for yourself. Comments are always welcome about how melted your heart was by Baby Austin and his amazing parents. (Thanks, guys! You were seriously amazing!)
Here’s to a long life of big smiles and sound sleep, Austin.

The youngest of my dad’s brothers is getting married in July, and we were so honored when Uncle Paul and his fiancee, Nadine, asked if we would be their photographers. Our family–both sides–has been blessed with an incredible array of aunts, uncles, grandparents, brothers, sisters–and now nieces and nephews. What a special thing it is to be part of their lives, and to document their milestones as they happen. We’ll have tons of great pictures from Paul and Nadine’s day later this summer, but for now, here is a sampling of their engagement session last month at The Grand Tradition.

We’re especially looking forward to their Hawaiian theme. A few years ago, The Grand Tradition added a second wedding site called “Arbor Terrace,” and the lush landscaping goes so well with tropical shirts and the rest. :) :)

A couple of months ago, we had the privilege of shooting a wedding with Nick over at The Image Group, and what a beautiful wedding it was. Chris and Shari are amazing together, and despite a rain delay and having to move the ceremony inside, everyone was upbeat and smiling the entire time.

Cute needs no introduction.
But, just in case, this is our niece, Addison. She is now four months old with a brand new smile. Just lovely. :) :) :)

Last month, we had the pleasure of meeting 9-day-old Evelyn. She was so sweet and only fussed a little bit as we moved her around and played with the light. And we even got her big brother, Sebastian, in the frame for a few minutes toward the end. What an amazing family; thanks guys (and especially Evelyn) for the great shoot!

I have two favorites from that day, and this is one:

And this is my other (most) favorite:

We had never met Kyle or Tessa until the day when we got together at Seaport Village to shoot their engagement pictures. So we had no idea how tall they were. Or how cool. He’s 6′10″, and they’re both off the charts for knowing how to chillax and look great for the camera. (Revision: Seems I exaggerated a bit–Kyle, I’ve been informed, is “only” 6′8″.) The only bad thing about this couple is that they’re getting married in South Dakota later this year. (Obviously not bad for them, and more like sad for us, since we can’t do their wedding.)
You can probably tell from the length of this post that we spent more time than usual with K&T. Again, that’s because they were so much fun to be with, and every pose was a WIN for Brooktown Photography.
Thanks so much, guys! You are going to have tall kids someday!!!

When Tessa called us to arrange where to meet, she said, “Do you know where the popcorn stand is?”

Seaport is hands down one of the best places in San Diego to watch the sunset. Most days it looks like it’s lowering itself onto the deck of one of the aircraft carriers moored across the bay.

A couple months ago, a good friend called up to ask if we’d shoot his sister’s wedding and engagement photos. It’s always flattering when that happens, and we of course agreed immediately.
Cyrus and Diane are awesome together. We already shot their wedding last week, and it’ll be a few weeks before we get those photos edited and up on the blog. In the meantime, here are a few of the best from their engagement session in downtown San Elijo.

Last month, we headed down to Live Oak Park in Fallbrook for a couple of family sessions, the first in what we hope will become a series of “Portraits in the Park” afternoons. For more information, shoot us an e-mail. Until then, enjoy.

Addison was born on Jan. 19; we took her pictures on the 29th. (How’s that for being on-the-ball?) She is absolutely beautiful, and pretty mellow. At the beginning of the session, we cranked the heater so we could take off her PJs. Then we set her on a big, fluffy pillow with a soft blanket over it. She was soooo out. But then we started moving her around more, and she woke up and looked around. All in all, we took a couple hundred shots over a period of an hour. Here are the best, along with the three from our initial post.

Oh yeah, and Lorelai was there, too.
