Editing our latest engagement session. More to follow, but had to share these two.

Hi! We're Brooktown Photography, but call us Tom and Dori. When we are not behind the camera, we are a journalist and a piano teacher; we tied the knot in Fallbrook six years ago and have lived here ever since. We are (very, very) proud parents — in fact, while you are reading this, we are probably trying to catch up to our toddler.
We love taking pictures of kids, families, high school seniors, even pets, but what we love most are weddings. If you are in search of a good team of wedding photojournalists, you’re in the right place. (Since you're already here, check out our philosophy of wedding photojournalism.) Speaking of the right place, we happen to think that Fallbrook is a great town in which to get hitched, and we are proud to be among a handful of professional wedding photographers based right here, in the Avocado Capital of the Universe. We’ve worked our magic all over Southern California and we’ll go wherever the light’s good, but if you’re tying the knot in Fallbrook, give us a shout. At the very least, we can help you find that perfect hilltop at sunset.
If you are interested in booking, we have a price list with your name on it. Shoot us an e-mail or visit our formal web site and fill out a contact form so we know a little about you. Meanwhile, please follow us on twitter and @reply us so we know who you are!
Thanks for visiting!
Editing our latest engagement session. More to follow, but had to share these two.

Back in November, Tom’s mother asked if we would do the annual honor of photographing the Pfingsten/Rosas families. This would be a particularly special session, the first time since mom and dad moved into their new house that we’ve gathered for pictures. So we chose a spot in their new neighborhood, Shady Grove, and commenced with the shooting. We even got a few good pictures of us–thanks Annie!
We start with Tom’s three nephews, who have had plenty of time in front of the camera over the years…

Words don’t do justice to how much fun we had with Jeremiah and Shannon at their recent engagement session. It was my second time shooting down at the old Bonsall bridge, only this time we got to head underneath the historic span, which some of us still remember having to drive across as kids. If you passed a big rig, you held your breath. But now it’s gated off to motorists and only accessible on foot or bicycle. Such a great place to take pictures.
Starting off with my proudest moment…
Just to give you an idea of how amazing these two are together:

When Nate first approached us about doing wedding photos for him and Sarah, he posed the question somewhat like this: “Are you available for a wedding/knifefight in late August?” I had never heard a wedding compared to a knifefight before, but it was accurate, in a metaphorical way, to what went down last Sunday. The photobooth was in a corner of the reception room, and throughout the night we had folks coming back with good ideas. Lots of energy. A few injuries (not really, as far as I know…). The thing took on a life of its own, and it was a highlight we’ll remember for a long time.
Images of the actual wedding/knifefight to follow…

Much was made of these handy little Nerf-like slingshots. Dangerous. (Right after this shot, dude No. 1 on the left actually shot dude No. 2.)

Proof that we really were there:

Nate is one of our favorite people — we have seen him in the role of fearless leader, goofy camp counselor, and now enamored fiance, a.k.a., putty in Sarah’s hands. Those of you who have met him even just once probably remember his sense of humor and passion for justice.
Last month, we had the distinct pleasure of finally meeting Nate’s fiancee, Sarah, who is every bit as awesome as she seems. They are such a great couple, and we can’t wait to shoot their wedding in August.
These were taken at Mt. Wilson just north of Pasadena, where Nate and Sarah currently reside and will be getting married.
The first place we stopped to take pictures was where Nate proposed earlier this year. This was a re-enactment.
Friends, it’s been too long… Too long since my last post, and too long since Michael and Noelle Bower’s wedding. They have now been married more than six months, and here, at long last, are the best of their wedding pictures.
We had an amazing time behind the lens with Michael and Noelle, who are both such special, talented and loving individuals; as a couple, they are incredible. It was an honor to be part of your wedding; we love you guys!
Without further ado…
One last shot, a personal favorite…
Dori and I headed down to Encinitas last Friday for an amazing engagement session with Mike and Rachel. I’ve known Rachel for years, since we were both kids, but just met Mike on Friday. We were on the beach for a couple of hours — kind of a long session, but they were both good sports about it, and the results speak for themselves. Thank you guys for rocking it!
